There's something so delightful about biting into a crisp piece of toasted baguette layered with fresh, juicy tomatoes and fragrant basil. This classic bruschetta is a celebration of simple, quality ingredients that come together effortlessly to create a burst of flavor in every bite.

Perfect as an appetizer or a light snack, this dish is not only quick to whip up but also showcases Italian flavors at their best. The combination of ripe tomatoes, aromatic basil, and a good splash of olive oil makes it an irresistible starter for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Baguette
  • 4 medium Ripe tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup Fresh basil leaves
  • 3 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch thick slices and arrange on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven for about 5 minutes until golden and crispy.

  2. While the bread is toasting, dice the tomatoes and place them in a bowl. Mince 1 clove of garlic and chop the basil leaves finely. Add to the tomatoes.

  3. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of olive oil over the tomato mixture and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir to combine.

  4. Once the baguette slices are toasted, rub each gently with the remaining garlic clove. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each piece.

  5. Finish with a drizzle of the remaining olive oil and garnish with extra basil leaves if desired. Serve immediately.
