Quick Mild Creamy Avocado Pasta for Toddlers & Little Ones

Avocado Pasta
Creamy mild avocado pasta—soft, nutritious, and toddler-friendly.
This mild avocado pasta is one of my favorite quick recipes to make when little ones are hungry and I want something nourishing and gentle on tiny palates. The sauce is creamy without heavy dairy—just ripe avocado, a touch of yogurt, spinach for color and nutrients, and a little lemon to brighten. It’s smooth, comforting, and perfect for toddlers learning to chew.
It comes together in about 20 minutes and adapts easily: use small pasta shapes for easy pick-up, blend until silky for younger babies, or leave it a bit chunkier for older toddlers. I love serving it warm with a light sprinkle of cheese for flavor and a soft texture that’s easy to eat and hard to resist.

Directions
-
1
Bring a pot of lightly salted water to a boil and cook the pasta until very tender (slightly softer than usual) so it’s easy for toddlers to chew. Reserve 1/4 cup pasta water, then drain.
-
2
While pasta cooks, remove the avocado flesh and add it to a blender or food processor with the spinach, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil, minced garlic, butter, and salt. Blend until smooth and creamy. Add up to 1/4 cup warm pasta water to reach a silky but thick consistency.
-
3
Taste and stir in grated Parmesan; adjust salt very gently for toddlers. If needed, add another tablespoon of pasta water to loosen the sauce.
-
4
Return warm drained pasta to the pot, add the avocado sauce, and toss gently over low heat just until everything is warmed through (30–60 seconds). Serve slightly cooled to a safe temperature for little mouths.

- Ripe avocado:1 1/2 pieces
- Plain whole-milk Greek yogurt:1/4 cup
- Baby spinach, packed:1 cup

Tips & Notes
- For younger babies or smoother texture, blend the sauce until completely velvety and mash the pasta slightly with a fork.
- Use small pasta shapes (shells, corkscrews) so toddlers can pick up pieces easily; chop into smaller bites if serving to very young children.
- If your avocado isn’t ripe, add an extra tablespoon of yogurt or a splash more olive oil to help with creaminess.
- Make a double batch of sauce and keep refrigerated up to 24 hours—add a splash of milk or warm water when reheating to loosen it.
